Internship Description: 

Capitol Hill United Neighborhoods (CHUN) has provided residents with a powerful unified voice since 1969. As Denver's largest and oldest Registered Neighborhood Organization (RNO) we promote a sense of neighborliness and work to improve the quality of life in Denver's Capitol Hill community.

Capitol Hill United Neighborhoods is currently accepting applications for a Summer Intern position(s). This is a great opportunity for a responsible, eager, motivated, and detail-oriented student who is looking to expand their experience in nonprofit work and get engaged in the Denver community.  

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Assist with the planning, promotion, and execution of several community events.
  • Write and edit email blasts, articles for e-newsletter, web site content, and copy for other promotional/informational documents.
  • Capture photos relevant to organization, community news, events, and updates. 
  • Perform various administrative duties, including, but not limited to bulk mailings, copying,   answering the office telephone, outreach list management and/or responding to constituent inquiries.
  • Researching city policies and outcomes; social media monitoring and development.
  • Some evenings and weekend hours, as well as working events outdoors may be required.
  • Supporting the management of the Tears-McFarlane House and Community Center; conducting tours and visits with prospective clients/tenants. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, and database management.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate expectations clearly.
  • Attention to detail to support deadline-driven projects. 
  • Self-starter with the ability to work collaboratively. 
  • Knowledge, acceptance and ability to work with diverse populations
  • Comfortable taking digital photographs that can be used in various media.

EDUCATION:  Applicants for this role must be a college junior or senior or enrolled in master's degree program with a focus on Nonprofit Management, Hospitality Management, Public Affairs, Communications, Marketing, or related field with a minimum 3.0 GPA. 

Anticipated start date will be June 1st with an expected end date of August 31st.  Compensation will be $850/month.   Intern is expected to commit 15-20 hours per week.
