About Our Job

As DEN grows we need additional Associate Airport Planners to support the Planning Team in performing the following core duties:

  • Aircraft gate layout and paint design
  • Planning project coordination
  • Prepares phasing options and airline coordination exhibits with the goal of minimizing project impacts on airline users
  • Performs construction planning exhibits, developmental phasing options and airline coordination – with a goal to minimize project impacts on airline stakeholders
  • Performs, compiles, and organizes research/statistics measuring airfield efficiency and gate utilization
  • Conduct various airside planning studies and analysis including gate layout/optimization, hold room analysis, FAA design standard review, and airspace evaluations. Research current airline trends, scheduling, and fleet mix to identify potential impacts to DEN operational efficiency.
  • Prepare and maintain FAA Form 7640 applications and database. Maintain and update the Airport layout Plan and ensure that GIS data sets are current and up to date.
  • Performs, compiles, and organizes research/statistics measuring airfield efficiency and gate utilization. Create presentations and overview exhibits to effectively communicate existing airfield conditions and/or deficiencies throughout the organization
  • Other duties as assigned

About You

We are looking for someone with a passion for aviation and strong communication and organizational skills. We are looking for someone who wants to leverage their technical abilities and learn and grow within the aviation field.

Our ideal candidate has:
  • At least one year of experience in airfield planning/operations or in construction management and at least one year of experience creating gate exhibits and renderings, airfield/airline specific plans and concepts, phasing plans, or aircraft parking layout and simulation modeling.
  • Degree in Aviation Management or Airport Planning or construction management
  • Experience with AutoCAD highly desired
  • Experience with Geographic Information System (GIS)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Solid knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) as they apply to Airport System
  • Planning, Airport Master Planning and Airport Design Working knowledge with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Advisory Circulars pertaining to Airport System Planning, Airport Master Planning and Airport Design Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Piloting experience
  • Understanding of aircraft characteristics
  • General understanding of airport environment and airport operations
  • Project coordination experience

  • Bachelor of Arts Degree in City or Regional Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or a directly related degree and one year of professional city planning, regional planning, or experience creating, drawing and rendering urban design plans and concepts. 
Education/Experience Equivalency: A Master's Degree in City or Regional Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or a directly related degree may be substituted for the experience requirement. A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the minimum education and experience requirements.

Classification Title: We call this job the Associate Airport Planner. The official job classification title is Associate City Planner.
